Quite proper. Those wizards who remain in the Knightly orders are known as Grand-Knights, while wizards who maintain interest in the arts of the Farmer Caste have done immense good in improving the life of the average Loskalmi (better plaw techniques etc).
If OTOH, he is just practicing the skills for himself, then his actions are bad.
