<Just from this little blurb, one can see that the Runegate Hyalorings are different from the other Quivini clans...That being said, the Runegate Hyalorings are Third Age Heortling Orlanthi>

Yes I'm with you on this any 'Hyaloring' notions just go to explain slightly strange customs and ways not imply that they are not TR Heortlings

Such discoveries are for heroes.

Fine - from amongst the Alakoring invaders of the pass (i.e. along with Arim) was another possibility, but yours works fine and has a lot to recommend it.

What I have dug up suggests that the Varmandi ... were seeking lands

Agreed primary motivation - new lands required.

Though in typical Orlanthi fashion there are also suggestions the Varmani attacked the Hiordings too. I could see the Hirodings saying to teh Varmandi 'hey, don't attack us, those horse loving foriegners down near Runegate fort have all the best land, we'll help you attack them instead" to get the Varmandi off their backs. But, YMMV and you have played this period so...
