Bryan Thexton:

<< Do the Brithini even have liturgists and community blessings? >>

No. They have communal spells, I'm sure, powered by tapping when necessary, but no access to blessings.

<< I had the impression from somewhere that *all* their magic was handled by the 'wizards,' >>

That was certainly the case in RuneQuest (contra the Malkioni), and AFAIK its still true in HW.

<< Still, it would seem to help explain the appeal of Malkionism--not just Solace, but
that more ordinary people can gain blessings in everyday life, instead of being totally dependant on wizards.>>

Yup. That's why Loskalmi is so perfect, you see; even if you're not good enough to enter the wizard class you still get access to the blessings of the saints. Truly, they have a path for everyone ;-)

I agree; most of Hrestol's early converts were lower class, because the wizards already had lots of magic and a strong position in society - many of them had little to gain for conversion, while the farmers and the soldiers got access to blessings and the promise of something better when they died. As it grew in strength, the wizards and nobles started joining in too (an eternal afterlife of bliss is an attractive thing to believe in).

Being tapped. Its not really 'veneration' ;-)

<<Isn't tapping sort of fatal? Or, if not fatal, at least weakening?>>

Its fatal if you overdo it. Unless they're in dire straits, the Brithini sorcerers obviously try to avoid that. Sure, its weakening, but you can tap their individuality or their emotions or such, which isn't a problem because they don't *need* those sorts of things. And the Brithini tap the environment too, which is why Arolanit is such a bloody dismal place to live...

<< Or are there two sorts of Tapping, one like the classic RQ version, and a kinder, gentler tapping that serves the communal needs of the Brithini? >>

Nah, I don't think the Brithini are at all kind or gentle about it. But they do try and avoid tapping strength and vigour, because the dromals and horals need those things.
