Over here, a "sauna" is very hot, and of variable humidity. Water can
be splashed on to coals to increase humidity (and temperature, for
some reason). Sitting directly on the wooden benches can be a bad
move.
The things referred to as "Turkish baths" are filled with steam to
the point where it is difficult to see across them. Temperature
somewhat lower than in a sauna. Often scented things are added to the
steam to aid breathing (or something): menthol, for instance.
