The analogy with Arthurian scholarship has always been the prime one I use for Gloranthan history. There are lots of Arthurs, according to different scholars, and most of these are mythical or at least legendary. The source materials are scattered, incomplete and contradictory. Folk in different cultures weave the source material to their own ends (and not always consciously).
