My first thing would be propriation of the ancestors. Either one needs to convince them to move with you - taking earth from the ancestral urn field? Or cutting yourself off from them so that they don't think you are abandoning them with the attendant bad luck that that would entail... Maybe they have ancient ancestors in Dragon Pass from before the Dragonkill that they might be able to re-establish relations with now that the deathline is gone? (Sounds like a fun scenario!) Going into a new land without the support and intercession of your ancestors would be a scary thing!
