Leopard (aka panther)

Mass: Male:20-82 kg

Mass: Female: 7-35 kg

So saying that it can grow to be as large as a smallish leopard (at 40kg) seems still quite apt to me.

The European (20kg) lynx makes do with small rodents a large part of the time. I'd assume there's about 1 Shadowcat to 10 humans or so in a clan, and humans don't much eat rats, fieldmice and such. I don't think it's that much of a problem. Not more so than huntingdogs or cheetahs in other cultures.

Ok. I just picked that line from Storm Tribe, since I happened to be reading it at the time. Can't remember the exact reference at the moment though.

What I meant though, was that the Shadowcat is integral to the Heortling world, religion and otherworld in a way that the bobcat isn't in the humanistic west.

I'll still rather see them as the "shimmercats", moving with incredible grace even for felines and almost aglow with their own willful power.

I agree compleatly. No more routine binding spirits into animals please.
