Speaking of remnant people the clan in my campaign finally decided what to
do with the Oasis People living in the Sounder Vale. They figured they had
a number of options in terms of dealing with them :
- Kill them. (They aren't Heortlings, or friends or foes and committed the
grievous sin of sitting on land the clan needed).
- Adopt them into the clan. (The old clan that spun off this new clan had
adopted the Nalda Bin after all. Unfortunately they weren't at all
interested in becoming Heortlings and giving up their ancestral ways.
Besides they were just as lousy candidates as Vendref would be. We decided
their main virtues were fatalistic pacifism. ("It was great when Genert was
alive, you dropped a seed and a plant sprung up! Then he died and things
have been going to hell ever since."))
- Sell them as thralls. (Unfortunately the ancestors wouldn't have
approved and the Storm Bulls from the Block who had been taking tribute from
them weren't interested in taking them back with them into the Devil's
Swamp. Once they persuaded the Bulls that the clan would do a good job of
protecting the Vale from Chaos they washed their hands of it).
- Drive them into Prax to get enslaved by some other group.
- Put them into a reservation of sorts where they could act as a good early
warning system against raids.
None of the options, other than adoption were that popular with the players
but they finally decided to go with 5 and forcibly relocated them to
marginal land just outside the territory claimed for the tula.
