IMO, Monrogh found another path, but in so doing ended up worshipping a different god. The interesting question is whether that god existed "before" he strayed. I'd lean towards "yes" - he strayed into Dara Happan mythic territory and found Yelmalio/Antirius (might have wrong name there).
