I agree. Maybe a good example is in the Grazers scenario on Glorantha.com.

The presence of the Black Horse Rider boosts up the outcome and perils of the ceremony. So a newtonian effect, but maybe on a large number of variables (not just as much powerful as the heroes are). But it's also a stocastic rule, so once in a century, your hill of gold ceremony, for no apparent reasons, goes awry and you really encounter ZZ!
