All the following are IMO.
The participants in the ritual are the chief (or other person authorised to perform the ritual) using Heortling Myths, Clan Myths or Greeting Ritual (10w to 10w2), the guest using Heortling Myths or the Greeting Ritual (say 10w), the clan wyter using Awareness (or something more specific) (say 15w) and the entire clan (community participation) (+8 or more, can't remember the numbers off the top of my head). This will build up to a ritual backed by a rating of in the region of 10w2 to 10w3 (or more). Sorry for bringing rules to bear here but it seems appropriate.
All of these combine to force the literal truth during the ritual itself and also backup the resulting curse for breaking hospitality.
However there are several get-outs clauses that I can see.
1 - carefully chosen words can be literally true but hide ill-intent
2 - the leader has a specific betrayal feat or other magical ability
that allows them to ignore the curse
3 - only the leader of a group of visitors are directly involved in
the ritual. If the group contains an undeclared trickster or someone
who hates the clan unknown to the leaders then they may break
hospitality with low magical risk to themselves (but their leaders
will bear the brunt of the resulting curse).
4 - members of the clan are less closely bound by the ritual than the
direct participants but will still get it in the neck if they break
the ritual via their connection to the clan and wyter.
regards,
Charles
