Checking the topic of resistance to the truth magic of the greeing, I note that TR simply says that the oath is backed by Orlanth. If taken literally this looks like a 10W9 level.

For my part I still prefer to pursue the option that for Orlanthi because you both willingly entering into the greeting the truth magic works and you have to get around it by equivocation etc. I don't think you do the greeting and then hoipe your lie 10W2 allows you to tell falsehoods, but you might be able to equivocate and hope that your Clever 10W2 defeats your opponents Spot Subtlety 5W2.

I don't think the magic works if you don't willingly participate in Orlanth's ritual i.e you don't agree to do the greeting. In other words this is not a detect truth ability you can use at will (I perform Gretting 10W on them), its the 'benefit' of performing the ritual (we do the Greeting). I don't think successfully performing the greeting requires a roll either, its automatic (well maybe when Orlanth is dead the greeting no longer works, hmmm now that's a source of potentially interesting plot lines...).

I don't think that, in this case, numbers help the story, but again YMMV. Ian Cooper
