That might not be too far, if you view that as a variable cultural thing rather than mythic/magical static thing. People are always good at attached meaning to things, whether totally needed or not. Look at the "language of flowers" that the Victorians developed to almost an artform. Or for a more trivial example, I recall in my teen years some of the guys developing a code based on the flavors of pop-tarts for describing girls. It would not surprise me at all, especially after centuries of relatively stable existence, if people familiar with the bee dances wouldn't roughly copy them, but would no doubt shade the moves and meanings more to human preferences. I just don't think this would be mythically based, as you well described it, they are bee-lovers, not bee-hsunchen. (also remember they are just one blood line, not even an entire clan).
