Characters are Lunar (but it doesn't matter too much).
They are an Honor Guard escorting a VIP (a mid-ranked priestess) half-way across the Empire, to the wild and woolly Dragon Pass region.
They haven't "clicked" as a unit yet, they are basically a half-dozen individuals who have won this honour and are posted out of their actual units indefinitely.
The voyage should be mostly within peaceful/pacified lands, will cross rich farmlands, sparsely settled lands, and a well-traveled mountain pass.
