You know, I actually _thought_ about whether to send that post to the GD or HeroWars before sending it to HeroWars, and I thought that actual ideas about the magical powers of tin (not brain-fart prompted "zinc") might be useful in actual games of HQ/HW, and furthermore didn't want to dump the idea into the abyss of GD armchair esoterica.

I apologise if I'm not supposed to suggest any GD-type ideas as actually being useful in HW/HQ games, although I personally find
the GD to be the richest existing source of Gloranthan RPG inspiration.

I genuinely think that suggesting to people, albeit implicitly, that they could, say, call a lightning bolt into their tin sword (viz. Gandalf vs. Balrog in T2T) and gain fun Bonuses against their enemies is a FUN USEFUL suggestion for Gloranthan roleplaying.

"semi--problem" IMO, although I accept
50% of that equation. I crossed a line..

But I remain convinced that references to RW Wars, no matter how distasteful those wars may be, are relevant *narrative* sources for the coming Hero Wars.

But I recognize that last week I put far too many personal emotions into the post in question, for which I naturally apologise.

What, by suggesting ways that tin can be used in HW/HQ games ?

If that's the case, then your threshold is a bit low IMO.

Of course, comparing Bush to Hitler not as a rhetorical exercise, but as a possibly sensible opinion, and as pertinent to the Hero Wars, is bound to ruffle some feathers ; so I am generally happy to keep such comparisons to the Open list, despite that recent HeroWars-posting fuck-up due to personal issues.

Errare humanum est et jazz iste totum

But can you not please give some credit to the fact that not everyone is so comfortable with the current WASP invasion of the cradle of civilisation that thay're willing to simply pretend that everything's AOK and never, ever mention it in polite company, nor ever imply any possible relevance to HW/HQ games ?

Mythology, and even the Gloranthan variety, is meant to convey meaning, not escapism.

Harsh maybe, but you're suggesting gagging me.

I am increasingly exasperated by the apparently prelevant idea that GD threads are less useful to Glorantha/HW/HQ than officially acceptable HeroWars / hw-rules ones.

When people like Jane refuse to discuss the relative esoterica of tin on the GD, preferring to post on HeroWars, when (as has been the case for at least a year) people who are _actually interested_ in various GD-type minutiae for the purposes of their game ask for advice about esoteric subjects, I think that some form of gameable Gloranthan deep info is actually _desirable_.

I've not said this before, but given that more and more people are treating the HeroWars list as a kind of GD-Lite, most subjects are therefore IMO worthy of discussion on the list, provided all Glorantha list deep sea divers make sure not to publicly dissect various species of clams and their Runic colours on a list designed for surfers.

All of the above fairly confusedly stated, sorry, but I must admit to being a bit miffed at being lectured to, Jeff.

Especially about a subject ("Tin") that's directly relevant to some people's HW/HQ games
(mine, Jane's, et al.).

I thought that this list's purpose was to help people roleplay in Glorantha ?

Telling them "Ooh, no, baaaaad thread,
take it to the GD/trashcan" doesn't help.

Where do you draw the line between
esoterical Gloranthan mythology and
the pertinent variety ?
