I must admit that I prefer the signal-to-noise ratio on the HW-Rules and
HeroQuest RPG lists a lot more than on the GD (no offense to Graham, I
think he's doing a great but difficult job moderating the GD). I've had
a pretty good education by American standards, I guess, but my education
in the areas of history and anthropology have mostly been through
reading on my own. This means that there are some areas I'm rather
familiar with (Greek mythology, ancient and medieval history), and some
areas I'm very much less familiar with (Eastern philosophy and
mysticism), mainly due to my own interests in such subjects. My
knowledge is broad rather than deep; I do not consider myself an expert
in much of anything. Sandy is both broad and deep (I mean that
intellectually, of course); I am constantly in awe of the casual
knowledge floating around in his cranium, which he shares freely; to me,
he embodies the best of the Gloranthan community.
Where was I going with this, again? Sorry for taking up valuable bandwidth.
