We have a fine dark brew in central Texas called Shiner, after the small town in which it is brewed. I have to say, though, that its superlative taste is probably due to the heritage of the area -- it is filled with the descendants of German immigrants from the late 1800's. Folks around here grew up drinking it, because it was as cheap as Buttwiper and far better. Now we find it in fancy New York bars under the "import" section of the beer list.
