I have no problem with the drinkers of beer, but I don't like the taste of the stuff. I have not had *any* beer (in America, Germany or Britain) that made me want to have more than a sip (unless I was *really* hot, and the beer was nice and cool, and then it was only the coolness, not the taste or the buzz, that I was after).

I was brought up drinking wine at dinner, so that's what I have a preference for. But there are "beer snobs" just as there are "wine snobs" - and the maunderings on this list about "which beer is best" (or which whiskey, or wine, or cider, or Corn Flakes) is just so much snobbery.

This popped up on the HQ rules list, but any response clearly belongs here:

>>If Sacred Time corresponds with
>>our Easter, what does
>>Thanksgiving equate to?

Err... Easter and Thanksgiving are not related. One is Christian (religious), the other is American (national/political).

To the other non-US citizens on the list - Am I the only non-American who cringes every time an American says something
that makes it clear they think they own EVERYTHING? I know it's just their
education, but how did a 200 year-old whippersnapper barely out of nappies
get so cocky?

The guy's a complete fuckwit. According to him, Henk is "American" because he asks a "shallow" question. He's a dickwad that will start an anti-american flamewar on a list because "it's quiet", and the question he's responding to insn't even that "American-Centric" - sure, we have Thanksgiving, but the Germans have Oktoberfest, and the English various harvest homes, etc (sorry, don't know any French harvest festivals off the top of my head). Would he be so upset if we asked "What Gloranthan festival equates to Oktoberfest?"

Southern California. I do have his address, as he's a member of the Diundracon Committee, as am I.
