I'm mostly with Rory on this one.

Hmm ; well, IMO Faramir in T2T:EE is actually a subtle new interpretation of the character, one that works ; but of course Faramir in RotK is a ludicrous caricature (particularly the "let's all go and commit horse-charging pointless suicide in Osgiliath because daddy doesn't love me" bit).

> Sorry, but the Arwen scenes did nothing for feminism, or for the movie.

I like Arwen in FotR and T2T. I'm still *hoping* that I'll like her in RotK:EE ... :-/

I like this particular change.

Ugly cinematography, but well-intentioned.

SUPER-COOL scene IMO. PJ channeling Tolkien. God's Grace in the form of Hasufel ... Yummy !

<blecchh !>

> For this shit we lost the Faramir-Eowyn romance?

Still waiting for RotK:EE ...

... but given the charisma of that particular actress (think : vile "Eowyn cooks for Aragorn" pointless character-destroying scene), not with baited breath ...

> We had to make do with Theoden at Helm's Deep instead of Eomer?

hm-hm

.. well ...

YES, definitely a bad PJ choice there ...

Of course, he was just copying Bakshi's bad choice, wasn't he ... :-(

> We lost the scouring of the shire?

:-(

We lost Saruman in toto in RotK, for no good reason whatsoever !!!!

Me neither, although he did get his FotR:EE and T2T:short versiuon right, IMO.

The theatrical version of RotK, though, was a mitigated disaster IMO.
