When you think about it, naing a war after a year is pretty stupid, too. We don't call WWI the "1914 War" or WWII the "1939 War". Are there any other wars that we name after the year?
I note in passing that Ruskies name some of their revolutions by year . . . which proves my point that it is a stupid idea.
