I didn't object to the event happening that way so
much......I mean, it could have told me I was being
assaulted by 500 beastmen, with at least 100 of them
shining with the runes of warlords, and a huge cloud
of magic hanging over their head, and then had the
same basic result, but I think the battle engine isn't
built to let a "normal" battle kill off most of your
ring and most of your non-combatants, nor to so
massively raid your herds and destroy all of your
fortifications all at once. So they built it in as an
event instead.
I guess I would have prefered if after the delegation
they hit me with one crushing, but not quite terminal
blow first, so I'd have a chance to understand just
how overwhelming their forces were, but the delegation
did look pretty threatening--I knew by snubbing them I
was courting serious trouble.
