One could reasonably argue that every season you received warning in the form of starving clan members and advisors screaming about lack of cows.

I've given up before getting that bad before. How low can you actually go before the game ends?

		Wrong, actually.  I lost a game WITHOUT "some sort of
warning" 
		precipitating matters.  Instead, due to poor annual
management, my tribe 
		simply starved, herds dwindled to unsupportable levels, etc.
It is 
		possible to lose the game by being purely nickle-and-dimed

to death.
