Hmm, I'm pretty sure sometimes I've gotten cows,
although I've also received goods.
As to why your ring members can't tell the difference,
clearly your trickster is pulling a prank. Somewhere
he is killing him/her-self laughing as all your nobles
sit around trying to milk their arm rings :)
