Based on something I read in the manual, I concluded
that for crops, that was related to Philipa's
question--that if you don't honor all of the grain
goddesses, your crops magic may not work.
The following information is spoilerish--don't read if
you'd rather find out for yourself!
I used to get that message a lot when I normally had
my rye at just 15%, with wheat at 35% and barley at
50%. Once I adjusted my normal to rye 20% and barley
45% I seldom got the message. With rye up just
another percent or two I *think* I haven't seen the
message, but I'm not sure.
As to the herds, I haven't managed to figure out that
yet.
