"flavor text", and other stuff

I don't know what the odds are of anyone other than Dave being able to answer the questoin about flavor text, but I'll throw it out for anyone to take a shot at. The other two points are requests for feedback from other players with their experiences and advice.

When you go to the reorganization screen, each leader has a small bit of "flavor text" under their attributes. Sometimes it is clearly fluff, but sometimes is seems like advice that might be sound, but in a way that is not obviously tracked by the game.

For example, our clan's best animal trait is possessed by an Odaylan. We have no Uraldan. An Ernaldan has text to the effect that we need a herder on the ring to get the most out of our animals. You get similar messages about crafters, and of course the ubiquitous "the fine families of our clan are not represented on the ring--we must not shirk our duty!" My question is, do these flavor texts mean nothing, are they a hint of the sort of advice you might get from each advisor, or does the game actually look to see if you have a herder, crafter, whatever on the ring, and use this when considering herd growth, crafter output, clan mood, etc?

In addition, sometimes a veteran (and usually incredibly capable) ring member suggests that they are ready to step down off the ring for a more relaxing life. Again, is this just window dressing, or is the 63 year old with the renowned combat actually more likely to die when taking insane risks to win a battle, etc.?

Onto the pasture issue. The ratio between needed pasture according to your ring, and what it takes to keep your sacred time tula screen from saying you have a problem is definately a non-linear function. Early in the game with my current clan, with less than 1.5x recommended I had no trouble. Now, with more than 1.5x recommended I still can't seem to avoid the overcrowding and malnourishent messages. It might have to do with the mix of animals, since I'm now short on sheep (around 800), but with lots of horses (120+, depending on how my latest tribute, errrr raid, from the horse spawn went and how many I've given away). Or it could be that I don't have the self-proclaimed best herder on my ring and I'm just getting poor estimates of how much pasture we really need from my ring, I don't know.

Oh, and one spoilerish suspicion (don't read if you want to figure everything out for yourself.

I think having a Humakt temple (or perhaps a Humakt temple bigger than your Challana Arroy temple) and/or having a humakti on the ring may make the Challana Arroy heals the Scars heroquest harder to complete. I haven't run it enough times to be positive--anyone else have feedback?
