That's a different dino (an Ankylosaur, I think). The triceratops eggs come as a gift delivered secretly after you give your visitor a suitable answer (hospitality worked for me, defence didn't). Feeding this one makes it wander off, but it wanders back once it remembers where it got that lovely hay... I used magic, and it left without any damage or fuss.
