No, not a clan making choice. Dinosaur eggs will follow a dinosaurish visitor, whom you need to treat politely (although the eggs clearly do not come from the visitor per se).
As for your stalled clan.....you are king of your tribe, right? And you've been putting magic into destiny? Sometimes things do take a while to play out. The way to know that you've missed your chance for sure is when you get word that the Feathered Horse Queen is hosting her contest, but you aren't part of it. (I had this happen once when my tribal king died at an inopportune time!) So far as I know, so long as you become tribal king in reasonable time, and finish your seven heroquests in reasonably time (and ten years is far from the limit for either, I think I've probably gone at least twenty with some clans), and put at least some magic into destiny, I don't know that you can blow it. Ummm, at least in the latest update, in the original if you were taken into the Colymer tribe you couldn't win, but one of the updates changed that. Mind you, I've never played a militaristic clan that is probably more feared than respected, so there maybe some possibilities for losing that I'm not aware of.
