On what planet is this true?

On what planet do you expect this to be true in two years?

I'm not sure what the answer is to the IP question, but experience has shown that relying on technology to solve this type of problem either doesn't work well, or it doesn't work long.

Particularly for software, a better model would be for developers to provide enough support and content that it is worth the time and effort of customers to purchase the product. This is what Stardock is doing with GalCiv and is common in the utility software industry.
