Maran Gor oddity

In my first year of a new game, I got the event where a Maran Gor priestess visits us, says we've been honouring her goddess, and offers us a gift. We picked the option to ask her to preside at a sacrifice and got the Sacred Clod.

The odd thing is, we're an Elmali clan and had no obvious links with Maran Gor, although we did have two earth goddess followers on the ring (one Ernalda, one Uralda). I don't think we'd raided anyone at that stage, there had certainly been no blood shed on our tula (yet, that soon changed). As a player I was planning to sacrifice to Maran Gor fairly early but I hadn't done anything about it. Every other time I've seen that event it's been after a sacrifice to Maran Gor, usually building a shrine as well.

Shortly afterwards we found the Raven Banner exploring, and one of our advisers suggested trading it to our enemies, including Maran Gor cultists on the list. Perhaps they're jealous of our favour from the goddess?

The next thing was a visit from Maran Gor priestesses from another clan, saying that as Earth cultists they were better keepers of the Clod and asking to trade for it. We refused them.

Was the original priestess a maverick from her cult? Or did she just take a wrong turning when she meant to visit another clan altogether?

We'd better get that Maran Gor shrine up!

Andrew
