Another point on the choosing goal you are questing for:

The various "strengthen the quester" choices seem to be the easiest options (and will also help you down the line, as above), and the "get a magical treasure" choices seem to be the hardest. I'm not sure about the other choices, because frankly I almost always choose the "strengthen" option unless my quester is "Heroic" in the relevant attributes.

An exception to this is when you are questing as part of an event, like when the drought event gives you the chance to do the Orlanth and Aroka quest. In that case, trying the obvious "end the drought" choice seems to work well.

Note that "Magic" is always an important attribute. And "Combat" is important in the Uralda quest because it helps you survive the biting things.
