Any ideas?

I'm a new member - and not sure how many folks are out there. Anyway, I've been playing on and off since 2000. With the new HeroQuest 2.0 coming out soon I went back to play KODP in preparation. One of my favorite PC games of all time.

In Vista, it was running very slowly, so I tried some things including copying the CD onto the desktop (some post on here suggested it in Vista). Nothing was working so I removed everything and reinstalled BUT -- now as soon as I try to save or load a game it crashes. I have no idea whats going on, anybody have any ideas? Thanks,
