Do not include large sections of a message in your reply. Especially not to add "Yeah, I agree" or "No, I disagree." Or be excoriated. If someone writes something good and you want to say "good show" please do. But don't include the whole message you praise. 2. Use an appropriate Subject line. 3. Learn the art of paraphrasing: Don't just quote and comment on a point-by-point basis. 4. No anonymous posting, please. I think that RQ3 is a good starting point. But what RQ4 parts would be used and what discarded. _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? All right the rules aren't copyright, the > words are. But renaming all the game mechanics? No, no.... I don't think that would be necessary. But likely the only way for a new BRP game to be marginally legitimate (but not profitable, and really, only a hard-core fan game), would be to make lots and lots of cross reference to Issaries Glorantha stuff. Or a BRP variant of HW, if you like. If there's a niche for PDP in the grand design of things, there might be a niche for BRP HW, too. The prospective readers? Anyone who will be buying all of HW anyway, plus those die-hards who Will Not Budge from RQ:Glorantha. A tiny audience, I believe. The opposite, perhaps, of what constitutes a threat to Issaries' prosperity ... *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@mpgn.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 08 Aug 1998 12:08:59 -0400 From: Tal Meta Subject: [RQ-RULES] Minimize Art Just wanted to say that while I was digging through the archives to refresh my memory on all the ToH stuff so I could finish the map, I rediscovered Allen Wallace's Minimize Art; how I missed it the first time, I don't know, but I loved it! QUAAL Runes: Motion Quaal is the Goddess of Transformations. Cult in the World Quall began her life as the daughter of a featherweaver in the Ameido. She assisted her father in his craft, and he assured her that someday all the world would know her name, so great was her talent. But she was eventually captured by slavers, and sold to one master after another, until she came into the possession of a merchant who recognized her talent. He was as captivated by her skills as a featherweaver as he was with her exotic beauty; and even though he was her lawful master, she rebuffed his every advance. One night, he would have no more of it; they fought, and he struck her down in his rage. As one, her feathered artworks rose against the merchant, carrying him high into the air over the harbor and dropping him there, never to be found. Soon thereafter, she left the merchant's villa, and made a name for herself as an artist whose artwork often possessed special qualities; until some time later when she came to the attention of the gods themselves, who directed her to the Path of Heroes, and took a place among the gods overlooking Oerth. Quaal's High Holy Day is 13th of Ready'reat, said to be the day her tokens first came to life in her defense. Her cult is mainly centered in the Azure Sea region, but a few small shrines can be found as far north as Perrenland. Services are conducted in large, airy chapels, and her clerics don brightly colored feathered cloaks while leading services to their goddess. Lay Membership Requirements: Quaal is primarily worshipped by artists and people who feel oppressed, as they seek to change their station in life. Skills taught by the cult include Dodge, Speak Languages, Craft (featherworking, sculpting), Devise, and Ceremony. Initiate Membership Requirements: Standard. Initiates of Quaal carefully imitate the ways of their goddess, often moving from house to house several times over the course of a year, leaving delicate feathered artworks behind as they travel. Spirit Magic: Binding Enchantment, Magic Point Matrix Enchantment, Protection, Repair. Priesthood Requirements: Standard, though Quaal's priesthood is open only to women. Virtues for Quall include Creative and Unpredictable. Common Divine Magic: all Enchantments, Initiate, Sanctify, Worship Quall. Special Divine Magic: Become , Vigilance Associated Gods None - -- talmeta@bellatlantic.net - I *am* one of the Chosen Few! Hasbro still hasn't answered any of my emails, but they might just be swamped. I'd be rather happy for RQ to be public domain, though. - -- talmeta@bellatlantic.net - I *am* one of the Chosen Few!
