Certainly not under RQ2, and I can't remember anything like that in RQ3, and it would seem illogical, and violate certain scenario backgrounds (for example, a miser's ghost in a TrollPack adventure). > Are they not like other character creatures? What am I vaguely > remembering about a simple 5% chance per check? Most corporeal beings have a Power Gain chance of (I believe) (MAX_POW - POW) x 5%, but any spirit has only a flat 5% chance. IIRC, spirits on the Spirit Plane must furthermore overcome the POW of a spirit larger than they are to get a check. That presumably explains why they come when summoned for spirit combat, to get a chance for an easier POW gain. It also explains why most of the spirits are in roughly human range, rather than all wyter-sized. Sorcerous familiars might use their original (animal) POW Gain chance, as would Awakened animal Allied Spirits, I suppose, but would probably be stuck with their species max POW, as well. *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@mpgn.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 7 Dec 1998 16:08:37 -0500 (EST) From: bjm10@cornell.edu Subject: [RQ-RULES] Re: RuneQuest Rules Digest V1 #207 I don't know what the terms of the final Chaosium:AH agreement was. AH may have surrendured rights to any BRP-based game system. Pity, since the RQIII system can be salvaged. *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@mpgn.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 7 Dec 1998 17:17:44 -0500 From: stancliff@commnections.com Subject: [RQ-RULES] POW gain for Familiars & Allied Spirits RU>Is there any rule or precedent to forbid or diminish RU>POW gain for Familiars & Allied Spirits? I am sure they get a POW check when the conditions are appropriate. I give any embodied spirit a normal check, but I only give spirits in an object a 5% check. RU>Are they not like other character creatures? What am I vaguely remembering RU>about a simple 5% chance per check? There may have been a rule in RQ2 about POW gains for bound spirits being 5%. Good source for RPGs in the UK is: Esdevium Games in Aldershot. Bung us a line and I'll send you the address. They even stock Reaching Moon stuff and the "Book of Drastic Resolutions" if you're into Glorantha. They had a copy of Vikings and Dorastor on the shelves this Saturday. (Most off you will already have noted this I know!) Anyone got a source for the few things AH were still selling for RQIII? (especially in the UK/Europe) (After a fire(!!!) I still need to replace Dorastor, Vikings and TrollPack) Dom *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@mpgn.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Dec 1998 13:06:15 GMT From: mab@sdc1.bnsc.rl.ac.uk (Mystic Musk Ox) Subject: [RQ-RULES] Dodge [Discussion of Dodge %age snipped...sorry, this mailer doesn't make it very easy to include the message that you are replying to.] How about a start % for Dodge of (2xDEX - SIZ)?
