RULES OF THE ROAD 1. Do not include large sections of a message in your reply. Especially not to add "Yeah, I agree" or "No, I disagree." Or be excoriated. If someone writes something good and you want to say "good show" please do. But don't include the whole message you praise. 2. Use an appropriate Subject line. 3. Learn the art of paraphrasing: Don't just quote and comment on a point-by-point basis. 4. No anonymous posting, please. Don't say something unless you're ready to stand by it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 18 Dec 1998 13:22:26 PST From: "Craig Tremblay" Subject: [RQ-RULES] A Shaman as a Rune Lord Hello! I it possible for a Shaman to become a Rune Lord? If so, it would most likely be for Waha or Daka Fal. Where would I find the rules for creation of Rune Lords? Thanks! If so, it would most >likely be for Waha or Daka Fal. Yes, and no. Taking the rules as they stand no shaman may even be an initiate of another cult, never mind a Rune Lord - however, IMO, this is as artifical as skill restrictions. Personally, I would say that if a shaman quaified to be a Rune Lord and a cult was willing to have them as a Rune Lord then, yes, it is feasible - however most cults, knowing the amount of time and energy shamans spend with their own people, would not be willing to make such a gesture. Under RQIII Waha and Daka Fal do not have Rune Lords (wait, Waha MIGHT have... I can't remember, but I don't believe so). Uzuz trolls CAN be shamans and rune lords. Rune Lords even of multiple cults. > Where would I find the rules for >creation of Rune Lords? Gods of Glorantha, in amongst the first few pages. Allowance was made for a Rune Lord to become an Acolyte as a favor so that they have an opportunity for reusable rune magic. I found some indication of this in the description of the > clientele at Gimpys. All weapons in Pavis must be peace-bound by order of the Governor except daggers, the weapons of registered guards for a wealthy (land owning) patron, or the mastered weapon of a registered weapon master. This is an elaboration of the material in the Pavis module. > -How does the Lunars put a price to magical items that are brought out > of the Rubble? The same way party members do, they follow the market prices and then fudge the result. I suggest that you look at the price lists for weapons, add 50% for Pavis, multiply by 10 to 15 for Iron content, less for other special metals, and add 1500 to 2000 silver per POW spent in enchantments. For non-weapons, estimate the artistic value of the item and add approximate POW costs for any spell effects as above. This has to be a GM rule-of-thumb so that it works in your world. The Lunars will use lower numbers for weapons they insist on buying (to keep out of rebel hands) and higher numbers for items they tax. > -I know I have seen how the Lunar calender works, but I can't seem to > find it again.
