Set 7: Demons. Made by Citadel Miniatures and containing some very nasty looking critters indeed and a nice Unicorn that doesn't seem to have been part of the original box. The names (B'Krath, Porphyr, Pazuzu and more) don't appear to me to be Gloranthan and it says on the box: Includes Special Free Runequest Scenario. Well it doesn't now. Does anyone know anything about these? And does anyone have a copy of the scenario they'd be willing to mail to me? - -- Michael Cule *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.imagiconline.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Apr 2000 16:59:09 +0100 From: Michael Cule Subject: Re: [RQ-RULES] Battle Skill Battle skill was outlined in an article in Different Worlds and was used to decide if you survived in mass combat. I intend to use it somewhat like the Battle skill in PENDRAGON as both Survival and Command-in- Battle. The following table is what I intend to use for Battle experience that happens in downtime. As Orlanthi tribes are usually in a state of constant war with Someone I've allowed a column (with fewer rewards) for intertribal warfare separate from the big campaigns. Don't know how I'll use the Battle skill when it gets time for them to get involved with Starbrow's Rebellion, but I know I will.... Roll once per year for Skirmish/Clan warfare and once per campaign for major battles? The table shows which skills get experience checks and other consequences. Dice Roll Combat Result Skirmish/Clan Warfare Major Battle Critical Fought with Weapon skill, 2 Best distinction Battle & POW Weapons & POW. Battle gets auto increase Special Fought well Battle and either Battle, Weapon Or POW Weapon & POW Normal Fought Battle and Weapon Battle competently & Weapon Unsuccessful Saw Action Battle Battle Fumble Wounded Battle Battle Out of Action 1d4 seasons. (Note that this changes from the Dragons Past article. You really don't want to kill off player characters before they join the campaign....) Later I'll figure out how to jury rig the PENDRAGON Battle System into this.... - -- Michael Cule *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.imagiconline.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Apr 2000 12:28:02 EDT From: MurfNMurf@aol.com Subject: Re: [RQ-RULES] subscription Gee, Astor, I was wondering the same thing :) The RQRules list seems to run hot n cold at times. -Ken- *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.imagiconline.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Apr 2000 13:20:54 -0400 (EDT) From: bjm10@cornell.edu Subject: [RQ-RULES] GURPSQuest Dribble 1 Mostly to help organize my thoughts, I'm going to pop out drips and drops of GURPSQuest ideas as they come to me. Since this group is sufficiently grouchy, ill-tempered, and up-front, I consider it an appropriately harsh audience. Do not expect organization, except as an accident. Character Generation: Haven't put anything together just yet. Some concepts: Cultural skills. The defaults of some skills will be artificially raised as being "typical" for someone of a specific culture. This will differ from culture to culture. Will probably use a "template plus options" method for character generation, although the method whereby templates are made will be explicitly described as well. Skills at character generation will be bought up from defaults, not using the GURPS "attributes are EVERYTHING" mistake. Attributes: The RuneQuest Attribute rolls will be used, as will RuneQuest skill categories. Most attributes will behave as normal in RuneQuest. Changes: POW is now trainable and works very differently. New Attributes: STR, CON, and DEX will now have "spiritual" scores as well. POW will function as does "SIZ" in the material world. INT is the same in either locale. Initial spiritual scores have yet to be figured out, but will be lower than physical scores except for characters who start out adventuring as particularly magical sorts. POW still functions as the attribute upon which magic resistance is based. Spirit combat has changed greatly. Skills: Use the GURPS skill list but assign to RQ categories. Defaults are as follows: Old New AT 50% AT-1 35% AT-2 25% AT-3 15% AT-4 10% AT-5 5% AT-6 2% AT-7 1% worse none If default is off skill, use skill percentile +/- 10% points for every +/- 1 Default modifier. Dumbass Skills: Fencing, Staff, Karate, and Brawling are broken. They will be dealt with later. Maneuvers: Treat as skills that default from skills. Skill improvement: Use the RuneQuest rules but integrate concepts of "easy", "average", "hard", and "very hard". Combat rules: An unholy fusion of GURPS and RuneQuest, details to be worked out later. Spirit Combat: An even more unholy variant on the combat rules. Need to work out rules for "spiritual weapons" and "spiritual armor" Magic: Ditch entirety of RuneQuest magic, replace with my bizarre and twisted expansion to the GURPS Voodoo system. This dovetails nicely into revelations regarding Gloranthan magic from the new HeroWars game. Instead of the GURPS Voodoo paths, Theists will have acces to one or a very small number of paths that restrict them to their own religion. Animists will begin play with a lot of individual rituals but relatively low Ritual Magic scores. Sorcerers will emphasize high Ritual Magic with little initial emphasis upon individual rituals. Paths will not be the same from culture to culture and will be redundant. Mixers will have to do redundant learning (the price of mixing). Mystics will concentrate upon "Spirit Warrior" and "Initiate Power" type stuff. Heroquests will be individual Rituals and have to be learned as such. HQ benefits will often use the Spirit Warror/Initiate Power rules. Details to work out for magic: All the friggin' paths for the various theists. The paths of the sorceries (including Arkatis and Moonies), a handful of appropriate animist paths. Shamans need to come in more than one flavor. Anyway, the above is a brief sketch. *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.imagiconline.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Apr 2000 22:48:25 +0100 From: Michael Cule Subject: Re: [RQ-RULES] GURPSQuest Dribble 1 In message , bjm10@cornell.edu writes >Mostly to help organize my thoughts, I'm going to pop out drips and drops >of GURPSQuest ideas as they come to me. Way back in White Dwarf 44 - 46 (I think) there was a series of articles on demonology in Runequest (this was RQ2). You are correct in that it was not specifically Gloranthan. The three names you mentioned are three of the minor demons described in the articles. It was one of the best RQ pieces ever published in WD. I don't know anything about the scenario. I would love to get my hands on it myself. I have the original WD artivles if you'd like background info. > A friend, knowing I was starting a new campaign very kindly gave me > some RQ figures I'd never seen before. Set 7: Demons. The original articles were designed for Questworld rather than Glorantha, although they are definitely transposable. I think the scenario was the one in WD48 - The Lone and Level Sands, set on Questworld I believe.
