Do not include large sections of a message in your reply. Especially not to add "Yeah, I agree" or "No, I disagree." Or be excoriated. If someone writes something good and you want to say "good show" please do. But don't include the whole message you praise. 2. Use an appropriate Subject line. 3. Learn the art of paraphrasing: Don't just quote and comment on a point-by-point basis. 4. No anonymous posting, please. Don't say something unless you're ready to stand by it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Tue, 25 Apr 2000 13:44:10 -0400 From: Joseph Elric Smith Servant to Arioch Subject: Re: [RQ-RULES] RQ 4 I believe tal meta has a copy for sell printed out and in a binder on his web sit Ken "Fiorito, David" wrote: > I am looking for a complete (as complete as possible) copy of Runequest > Adventures in Glorantha. Would someone please explain to me the rules about it. I assume that it is deducted from attack skill, but how is it counted? Is it from RQ2? RQ1? How does encumbarance affect it? etc. There are lots of these rules out there that contain something worthwhile. Too bad that you cannot get a draft or a quick reference about RQ1 or RQ2 rules from the net. If the opponent's success amount was less than the Defense %, then you avoided the attack, took no damage, and got a Defense experience check. The problem was that as defense got larger, it became impossible to be hit by anyone, ever! It was basically a subtraction from the opponent's chance to hit and could potentially shut weaker opponents down to using the 5% auto hit values. It took a long time for defense to change, but it was extremely valuable to raise. It had to be removed from the game because at the Rune levels, it had too much of an influence and it slowed play as people checked all hits against their Defense, not to mention slowing play by allowing combats to go on and on. Who's Bruce? Anyway, my purpose began twofold. 1: I REALLY like the magic systems in GURPS Voodoo. 2: Since I took the time to write the combat chapter in GURPS Swashbucklers 3rd edition, I might as well figure out how to use it in a game system that was closer to how I like to play (BRP). In other words, it's to be a neither-fish-nor-fowl sort of beast. *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.imagiconline.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Apr 2000 22:41:02 +0100 From: Michael Cule Subject: Re: [RQ-RULES] defence In message , Olli-Pekka Kantola writes >There is this defence skill that began to puzzle me when I read the Pavis >& Big Rubble. You only got a tick on it if it saved you from being hit. I can't recall how encumbrance (something that wasn't clearly covered in RQ2 as I recall) affected it. IIRC it converted to Dodge in RQ3. - -- Michael Cule *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.imagiconline.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Apr 2000 18:01:39 -0400 From: John F Pare Subject: Re: [RQ-RULES] Anyone have demon stats?? Nestled in some of the recent campaign logs (the group has been investigating some demon haunted caverns of late; the lair of a now vanished demonologist) are several demon breeds. I've only included the ones I don't expect them to encounter again, or at least the ones they've found information on... In Steve P.'s recent game (now temporarily on hold while he settles into a new game design job), we were playing unlimited free dodges. However it was all based on number of successes. So if an attacker got three successes on his attack, I'd better get at least three successes on my dodge. BTW, we were playing: roll == 00 gives fumble (I call it a -1 (minus one) success) roll <= skill gives 1 success roll <= skill/2 gives 2 successes roll <= skill/10 gives 3 successes roll <= skill/100 gives four successes (01 required until 150% skill) Dodge or parry successes cancel attack successes, and extra successes getting through buy you goodies like choose hit location, disarm, impale (costs two extra), max damage, etc. All this definitely changes the combat flow, but I haven't taken the time to work out the overall effect mathematically. - -- Tim *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.imagiconline.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ End of RuneQuest Rules Digest V3 #48 ************************************ *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.imagiconline.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message.
