Do not include large sections of a message in your reply. Especially not to add "Yeah, I agree" or "No, I disagree." Or be excoriated. If someone writes something good and you want to say "good show" please do. But don't include the whole message you praise. 2. Use an appropriate Subject line. 3. Learn the art of paraphrasing: Don't just quote and comment on a point-by-point basis. 4. No anonymous posting, please. Don't say something unless you're ready to stand by it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 8 Sep 2000 08:26:03 -0400 From: "Bob Stancliff" Subject: RE: [RQ-RULES] Information on the Cult of Yelm >One of my players refused to play an Orlanthi and had to play a Yelmite >& I can hardly find (unless I'm overlooking it) anything on his cult. >He's feeling rather put out over it and I'm trying to correct that. He can't find what isn't there... Yelm has no priests or temples in Prax. The only place that would have a Yelm shrine is the Sun Dome Temple, where Yelm would be an associated cult. The nearest Yelm temple is probably in Darra Happa in the Lunar Empire. In Orlanthi lands, the closest your player can come is to worship Yelmalio, or to be an exiled Yelmite or a Lunar citizen on assignment... without a temple or access to spells. Depending on the region you are running, the Lunar army can have a small detachment of the Lunar School of Magic with a Yelm priest (I am not sure if they have acolytes). The main information you will find on Yelm is in the Cults Book of 'Gods of Glorantha'. There may be a better write-up in one of the 'Tales of the Reaching Moon' or another magazine, but I don't know of one. I believe that the worship of Yelm is restricted to Darra Happan nobility and advancement in the cult requires ancient blood lines. There is a very good write up in a White Wolf magazine. I do not remember the issue number. Sun County is probably the best source for info on Yelm/Yelmaliio that I can think of offhand, aside from Gods of Glorantha. - -- talmeta@cybercomm.net - Heretic, Dilettante, & God-Machine ICQ - 12594453 AIM - talmeta Homepage - *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.imagiconline.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 8 Sep 2000 09:06:20 -0700 From: Brad Furst Subject: [RQ-RULES] Re: to remove surplus magic items >Brad Furst wrote: > > What rules are available in RQ for the GM to remove surplus magic > > items from party members? > >From: Tal Meta >Theft, wergild, and bribery make up for the rest Remind me how to successfully accomplish theft against the character party. Good luck breaking things, From: Brad Furst >When the matrices are in jewelry or crystals, how do you parameterize >the probabilities of breaking? Are we limited to mundane impact >(weapon damage vs. AP of item)? What is the usual AP value of a >matrix? The armor points of a matrix are equal to the AP of the item on which it is inscribed/etched/stitched. Lets a character is wearing a bracelet with a matrix. The bracelet is made of glass beads on a horse hair (AP 1). The character takes a blow from a mace 2 points of this damage penetrate the armor on that arm. Because the bracelet is rather small (compared to the arm) I would rule that there is a 5% chance that the bracelet maybe damaged. If that 5% is rolled then the bracelet is destroyed and must be repaired and re-enchanted (there are rules for this in 3rd RQ) If the bracelet on the other hand is made out of Iron and is rather thick, more like an armband I would give it AP 4-6 and such a light blow would not do anything to it. However the chance of it being hit would be greater anywhere from 10-25%. The most popular matrices IMC are earrings, rings, and medicine bundles because they are hard to damage in combat situations unless someone is specifically trying to do so. Or to enforce wergild? Theft: Busy street, plenty of jostling as individuals struggle past one another... or even deep into cups at the inn, wench on lap, with hands wandering about body... Wergild: If he doesn't pay up, his brother/father/son is slain in his place if he runs. If your player's characters have any social status at all above "professional grave robber", they can be bent to conform to society's rules... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Sep 2000 16:12:28 -0700 From: Brad Furst Subject: [RQ-RULES] Dragonewts in Glorantha I understand that when Dragonewts in Glorantha die, then they are reborn from the same egg (at some remote location).
