Actually, the spell *clearly* states "Control (Species, usually Spirits)", right there in the header. I'm not sure how you manage to interpret "usually" as "only". As for "Control Bison" being "impossible" -- I'm sure it is in *your* campaign. However, I thought the subject under discussion was *my* house rules .... The point being, if you permit "Control Species" spells for creatures that aren't spirits (of some sort), the requirement that their MPs be reduced to 0 becomes ridiculous. You've taken one route, I've taken another. - ---------------------------------------------------------------- Bruce Probst bprobst@netspace.net.au ICQ 6563830 Melbourne, Australia MSTie #72759 "By this time my lungs were aching for air!" I believe it is a place, but too small to be on the maps. I do not believe that Greg ever said what happened to the people, so this is up to individual referees. I like to believe that the people in the net had time to open a path to the god plane so that the strongest and healthiest would have a chance to reappear in the ancestral homelands. I consider this less likely than the idea that the net aged everyone about 50 years and that the survivors were the children and teens that had gone into the net. A very likely possibility is that the net is a link to elemental darkness or the underworld, and that darkness creatures were stealing the healthy ones for food and slaves. I seem to remember mention of a black net in some of the troll material and it was related to the Black Eater somehow. The Black Eater is usually perceived as Zorak Zoran, Death, or the Void depending on what you're reading. I believe that according to David Dunham, they escaped to Dragon Pass and formed the Grazelander nation. (Although maybe that was the handful of Pure Horse folk who *didn't* get captured by the net.) See the discussion on Grazelanders in the Glorantha Con IV Compendium. - ---------------------------------------------------------------- Bruce Probst bprobst@netspace.net.au ICQ 6563830 Melbourne, Australia MSTie #72759 "We're working on big gobs of neat stuff!" There is a reference to the Black Net in KoS, at the begining of Tarsh Kingom (french version p. 122, I'm translating back and apologize for any typo). Derik Poljoni find it in a dream, take it back in reality and use it to drag followers out of his dream, founding his own nomad tribe... Since the Poljoni are horse riders, it's a possible link. *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.ient.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Feb 2001 20:08:14 +1100 From: "Jim & Peta Lawrie" Subject: [RQ-RULES] PbIRC Game This isn't really the place to mention it, but: Anyone interested in playing in a Play by Internet Realtime Chat campaign (at 2100 GMT, Saturdays) set in the Dorastor Risklands, could you please contact me at: jimpeta@primus.com.au Thanks, Jim Lawrie *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.ient.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ End of RuneQuest Rules Digest V4 #4 *********************************** *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.imagiconline.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message.
