I can't argue purpose with the folks who created them!

For what it's also worth, my initial statement was not that vexillae didn't in theory work for all units if actually formed--but that the views of many Daxdarian etc. generals would often preclude their creation from units out of their own corps. Ergo by default they tended to be more Lunar. Even in the aftermath of these discussions, and the added thoughts of others, I'm still quite happy to think that.

"Yelm forbid they destroy the perfect Yelmian majesty of my phalanx to create this military hodgepodge." I have no real secret knowledge of the concepts of precedence in the Imperial Army, but the relative lack of more permanent command structures above the regiment seems to indicate a lot of opinionated regimental commanders, with views as to their own seniority. Exacerbated by the superiority some cultures feel.

My own readings and conversations on the non-Lunar elements of the Imperial Army have left me with the impression that they are not always happy with the way things run in Moonland. If that takes it slightly away from the basis of Chris and Nick, or Donald and Yak, that's just my perception. My thoughts may differ greatly from others', but in that case I'll confine them to MG.

I'm sorry if it was badly worded, but the "them's the breaks" comment in the last mail was coined very much with the image of stubborn Dara Happan subordinate officers placing the telescope to the blinded eye in mind--leader in the "variety of reasons" I alluded. That's the vibe I was intimating. I can't argue in the slightest with some of the units mentioned, in fact, it was on pondering those that I softened my stance.

Cordially happy to differ (if indeed we do that much),

Cheerio,

Stu.
