That is why I don't think that we should work out individual heroquests at this point (except maybe how Broyan killed the Bat and other straightforward succesful quests). Instead, I think we should try to determine the big mythical picture and the specific events of the siege.

We can then work backwards to figure why these events occured.

That is a distinct possibility, and I must admit I very much like Jane's idea of an Aroka HQ gone disasterously wrong. I'm just bouncing around ideas for what concrete things the lunars might be doing. But in any case the world becomes unlivable not just because Yelm dies, but because there are active enemy gods working against them so they are not necesarily exclusive positions.
