I agree with Alex here. I think this is in the realm of "rumor" and "gossip". Not hard fact.  

Based on relatively recent conversations with Greg (and Steve), the closest Gloranthan parallel to Whitewall is the Battle of the Verge. Lokamayadon, Palangio and a whole bunch of troops are fought to a standstill by a band of Orlanthi exiles. Lokomoko dies, Palangio kills Vargast and Harmast is initiated. Did Palangio set Lokomoko up? Did Lokomoko accept his death willingly? Those are all neat things to speculate about, but will never to be established as hard facts.
