True, it was just a question of the route it takes, and therefore *who* ends up spotting it, and who they report to.

Looks that way, doesn't it? A battle against the Lunars that the Orlanthi lose - of course Kallyr was there!

Agreed. Even "command" is a limited concept, as is "agent". What I had in mind was that we have general areas - Heortland, Sartar, etc - where if someone anti-Lunar spots something interesting, they report it "up". Who does the information end up with? In Sartar, Kallyr and/or Minaryth Purple. Does Broyan have the same influence over Heortland? I'd assume so. Are there other areas we need to consider, that the Lunars might approach through?

Yes, it looks as if she'd be in a position to have the broader picture of the information coming in from Sartar as a whole. Not just one Lunar unit moving, but a lot of them. The initial information would be sent by the fastest messenger they could get (pass a PC), then she'd come "home" to discuss strategy and help defend the place.

Plus anyone who was there to start with.

With Jorkandros in charge, and Tatius' choice of units. Whatever he can spare from the real work. Anything suitable for taking cities is heading for Karse and Smithstone.

And *therefore* Kallyr gets out to do just that.

BTW, Kallyr isn't the only Sartarite who's being using Whitewall as a base for years. Leika. And Benava Chan. The Colymar contingent. What have they been doing all this time? What's their "established role"?
