That's 21st C values, I'd say. Streams, rivers, etc, have fish in, and are the main source of water for everyday life. I doubt if anyone present there is going to go "urgh!".

Though a cistern isn't flowing water, usually... You'd need food, culling, general human intervention. Medieval monasteries had fish ponds, it could be worth looking at how those worked.

I'm not sure eels are the right fish, though. They migrate, don't they? There's probably some special WW species, originally a sea fish (from that original battle) and now adapted to fresh-water life.
