One thing that I missed when editing Dragon Pass was tying this up with the mention of the 'Kurtali' in King of Sartar:
"Argrath Voskandorasson was a thane of the Kurtali clan, and by virtue of his skills had been initiated as one of the Night Jumpers. This group regularly went into troll lands and chased them. This was considered a sport among the Night Jumpers, who were able to fly easily at night."
I'm not sure if these are the same Kurtali or different (Heortling share names the same way that we do). If so it is interesting to rationalize the Night Jumpers with the peaceful outlook of the Curtali tribe.
