Guilty as charged (actually originally from Manitoba, and I don't recall hearing the phrase there either. For that matter I don't think I heard it around Ottawa in the 80s either, but I did hear it in southern Ontario, so maybe it is even worse than an Ontario thing: maybe it started off as a TORONTO thing *shudder*

A good real world example of variations between locations within one culture. The Colymar call it "88 Day" while the Cinsinna call it "King Day" and the Malanni celebrate it both as "Sartar Day" and the openning of the annual moot....
