When I wrote a fan Ygg homeland for glorantha.com, I assumed that the "disinherited monarch" was an important part of the god Ygg's mythology. Like Shakespeare's Hamlet, Valind was cheated out of his rightful place by his evil uncle, Orlanth, who crippled his father. Vadrus, Valind, and Ygg spent the rest of the Gods War trying to get revenge.

I imagined that some of this pattern carried forward into "modern" Ygg. The Ygglings frequently end up in kinstrife because inheritance is important, and the inheritance rules means that there's more than one possible heir for any possession.

Things are made worse by the fact that the Ygglings consider things like songs and personal names inherited property. So it's easy for Marggu and Aggseli to both start singing Grandfather's song separately, find out that both are using it, and end up fighting for the rights to it.

All unofficial, of course.
