One last observation on Carmanian culture. The struggle between good and bad, black and white, truth and the lie has become internalized in their society.

Spolitism still is a popular religion and the Pelandans are considered to be a conquered people. The Carmanians, by virtue of their devotion to the truth, lord it over the Servants of the Lie who are their serfs. Since the Carmanians do not believe that the lie will be extinguished until the end, rather than convert the peasants, they allow them to wallow in the lie and treat them with the contempt they deserve.
