As far as I remember, we were looking at men having craft skills, I suggested that once they were past their young, fit, warrior prime, they'd move towards craft skills, and was told (see above) that they were far too busy boasting and drinking for that.

I have never understood what is meant by "official", nor why anyone would care. The version that was worked out over a few years, playtested, published on the web and on paper, and is still in general use today (last enquiry about it was in the last few hours!) lives here:

Checking copyright dates and so on, it's been around about 10 years, and used as the default RQ standard for most of that. The Mongoose version was, I believe (and hope!) based on the HW write-up, not this, but that's very much short-form anyway.
