As others have posted, my campaign swung by Fay Jee, though at a date somewhat earlier than the published Trader Princes. For example, House Caroman didn't exist yet. Here are my notes on using the setting in 1613.

Lord Caroman
Although he is a Trader Prince, the ruler of Fay Jee is not actually titled "Prince," since he does not head his House. Lord Caroman is subject to his uncle, Prince Barthol, who rules House Jhoraz from Joral, way upriver.

23 years ago (1590), Barthol sent his nephew Caroman deSosure to Fay Jee, then a small city of Wenelians, Quinpolic merchants, and settlers from the Holy Country, along with the original inhabitants. Through judicious use of mercenaries, lavish bribes, and promises, Caroman became head of the Guild Council. In 1594, he succeeded in lighting the Beacon of Fay Jee, and declared himself Lord of Fay Jee. Under his leadership, the city outgrew its walls, and is now home to almost 10000 people.

Caroman believes that the main threat to Fay Jee's prosperity comes from pirates, and maintains good relations with the navies both of Nolos and the Pharaoh. He's induced shipwrights from the Holy Country to move to Fay Jee, and is building his own navy.

To help protect the river traffic back to the Trader Prince castles along the Trade Path, he encouraged the formation of the Wenelian League, a confederation of local clans.

Caroman married Yevett d'Agoya, who's related to Prince Sadaveli of House Acrotos. Unfortunately, he has of no male heir. His two daughters have both married into other Houses.

Caroman's sister Anna married Yorge duDerysi, a member of a powerful family who is also related to Barthol. Yorge is one of Caroman's main agents, ranging up and down the New Coast on diplomatic and commercial missions.

Graymane
The Solanthi warlord known as Graymane first came to power in 1609. He managed to unite almost all the Solanthi clans behind his lion banner, first raiding Maldros, then the Ditali, then the Festuli and the Yolandan Confederation. Last year he became even more bold, forcing the Trader Prince Tallcastle, Donali, Yellowstone, and Acrotori to pay tribute. In 1613, he raided the Ditali again, this time plundering the Samori as well as Atelli and Colanti.

Graymane has begun attracting Ditali and Nimistori warriors to his forces. He is said to have revived worship of the lion totem, and have several wives.

Trader Princes are alternately predicting his demise, like all Wenelian warlords before him, or panicking because he seems unstoppable.
