Not really. In the original myth, Babeester Gor goes mad with an axe in Healer Valley and kills everyone there, becoming more and more battle-crazed, until she was wading knee-deep in blood. Eurmal turned the blood into beer and persuaded her to drink it, thus knocking her out and stopping the frenzy.

So, there's nothing to stop them using men's or women's blood. After all, blood is blood.
